Start with the person your readers know

Search the imported people and compare dates when names repeat. Select the person explicitly; the edition does not silently use the tree’s home person. The starting person is generation one. Their partners and the chosen descendant generations form the scope.

Make relationships easy to follow

Small family diagrams show one recorded family at a time. Multiple partners receive separate panels. Repeated people connect those panels, and the narrative provides the factual account. Long families continue in additional panels instead of becoming an unreadable wall chart.

Keep uncertainty in the story

About, before and after dates retain their qualifications. Recorded adoption links remain visible. Missing facts are left unknown. The service does not invent biographies, research new records or verify historical claims.

Choose privacy deliberately

The default replaces people without an explicit death record with a living-or-uncertain placeholder; age alone is not proof of death. You may choose to include living details for a private edition when authorized. Private records remain excluded. Notes and photographs are omitted.

What if you need ancestors instead?

This first layout follows descendants and partners. An ancestor-only edition and photograph uploads are not available yet. Inspect the sample to decide whether the current layout suits the book you want.
